UGI Energy Services recently had another successful year participating in the Angel Tree Program. Our company had 100 tags split amongst Veterans, Seniors & children in our community. Each tag represents a person, and includes their Christmas wish list. By coming together for this cause, we were able to donate over 500 gifts to these 100 people. This year marked the 13th year of UGIES participating in the Angel Tree Program. We are so grateful for the generosity and kindness of employees for supporting others during this holiday season. Each year this program is organized by Heather Ayala, who goes above and beyond to assure it is a success.

Today is Energy Efficiency Day, which happens to occur during the Energy Awareness month of October! According to the Energy Efficiency Website – “The Energy Efficiency Day message is simple: “Save Money. Cut Pollution. Create Jobs.” Since the inaugural Energy Efficiency Day in 2016, this annual awareness event has been supported by hundreds of prominent organizations, companies, government agencies and others. Our goal is to share tips, tools and stories that promote the multiple benefits of energy efficiency, from lower costs to healthier homes. Energy efficiency is the cheapest, quickest way to meet our energy needs, cut consumer bills and reduce pollution. Energy efficiency is also an economic engine, supporting over two million jobs nationwide in manufacturing, construction and other fields – most of which can’t be outsourced overseas.”

Did you know that last month was National Safety Month? In 1996, the National Safety Council (NSC) established June as National Safety Month in the United States. The goal of this Summer Safety Month is to increase public awareness of the leading safety and health risks that are increased in the summer months to decrease the number of injuries and deaths at homes and workplaces. The areas of safety are split into 4 parts: musculoskeletal disorders, workplace impairment, injury prevention and slips, trips and falls. In the summer months, we typically see more dehydration and other heat-related illnesses due to the warm temperatures, car accidents and fatalities due to higher traffic volumes from vacationing, injuries from outdoor activities such as the swimming pool or bicycling, and more. By putting emphasis on these areas of safety in the workplace, an employer as well as the employee can protect themselves from injury or harm. Knowing that the following 4 areas are prominent when it comes to the workplace, one can focus on their prevention through education and training.

Today, April 28th, is World Day for Safety and Health at Work! Maintaining a safe and secure workplace is an important part of UGI Energy Service’s commitment to safety and wellbeing for our employees. Together as a team, we can prevent work place accidents from happening to assure injuries do not take place. Awareness and continuous training are ways that we make sure our employees know what safety measures should be taken at all times. Each one of us is responsible to not only protect ourselves, but ensure we do not endanger others as well. A safe workplace is a happy workplace, as it provides employees the environment to effectively do their jobs.
Spring has sprung! Gone are the days of frigid temps, snowy nights & having to heat up your car before going anywhere! (Okay, so maybe it did snow this week, but we can have high hopes it was the last one of the season!) Spirits are high and everyone is happy to be able to be outside instead of cooped up at home or in the office. Spring is an opportunity to start clean and refresh everything for the warmer months ahead. This goes for more than just one’s self and wellbeing – it also applies to the home & to the business! We have put together some ways to prepare your office or business for spring – and we hope this allows for a fresh start for this season.
Now, more than ever, we are in need of the talent of women and girls when it comes to science. To celebrate females that have made a difference globally for the sciences, as well as continue to push forward with equality of gender within the field – February 11th is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. It is critical that we use the full participation and leadership of females in the science and technology communities. By shattering stereotypes, we are able to recognize that women play an important role, if not more, in these areas.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! As the hustle and bustle of the holiday season draws near, it is a perfect time to reflect on all we have to be grateful. This is the time of year to count our blessings, and give back to those that may not have the same advantages that we do. Supporting our local communities through the United Way is one of the ways UGI Energy Services employees give back. From providing monetary donations to volunteering, hundreds of thousands of people in Berks County are served through 80 programs at 33 partner agencies supported by the United Way. Each year, UGI Energy Services campaigns to raise money to support the United Way. The campaign includes a loaned campaign specialist (LCS) from our business, giving out incentives to encourage donations, creating videos on why we should donate, and more.
