“The joy that you give to others is the joy that comes back to you.” – John Greenleaf Whittier
As the holiday season unfolds and the air fills with festive cheer, it's important to take a moment to reflect on the true spirit of the season – the spirit of giving.
Among the myriad organizations dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those in need, the Salvation Army stands out as one of the beacons of hope and compassion this time of year.
That’s why once again, marking our 14th consecutive year, UGI Energy Services and its employees are participating in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.
This year we had 110 “tags,” which comprise veterans, seniors, and children gift recipients in our community. Upon completion, we received over 550 gifts for these individuals! Each person in the program sent a wish list of items they wanted for Christmas – and it was our job to pick the tags we wanted to purchase for.
UGI Energy Services’ local Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program, in Berks County, Pa., does more than just provide Christmas gifts.
“Our Angel Tree program provides warm winter clothing, toys, and other needed items to children up to 12 years of age,” explains the Salvation Army Reading. “Families can sign up for assistance during the month of October through an in-person interview with trained volunteers. Additionally, we assist seniors and veterans with small needs that they may have. In 2022, we provided 3,519 children and 867 seniors with Christmas gifts.”
UGI Energy Services is proud to continue to be a small part of this wonderful cause in our community.
During the holiday hustle and bustle, it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of gift-giving and festivities. So, we offer our sincere thanks to all our colleagues (as well as fellow Salvation Army volunteers and contributors) who are helping share joy with others who are less fortunate…exemplifying what the holidays are all about.
