Find me on:

We are delighted to celebrate both our earth and volunteers this week! This week we honor Earth Day and National Volunteer Week. These two observances go hand in hand, as we use our planet as the vessel for many of our volunteer activities. We have been busy recently, participating in activities to help our planet and community. At UGIES, we value our volunteers and the work they do within our community. We thank our employee volunteers for taking action and giving back to the places we call home.

Earth Day – April 22, 2022

Each year on April 22, we take the opportunity to celebrate our planet. Earth Day was founded in 1970 as a day of education about environmental issues. As an energy provider, we value our planet and all of the natural resources that it supplies to our civilization. Whether it is the water we drink, the air we breathe, or the sun we feel on our face, the earth supplies us with many of life’s greatest pleasures and necessities. A day like today makes us take a step back and pay homage to our beautiful mother Earth. This day also reinforces the importance of taking care of our planet all year long. Each person can make a difference by implementing small changes for a greater reward. Tasks like recycling, planting trees, and respecting wildlife can all lend themselves to a thriving planet. We so often become busy with everyday life and forget to take care of our habitat. Let us use this day as a stepping-stone to a better and brighter future.

One of our overarching focuses as a corporation is sustainability. We are concentrated on providing the best service to our customers while acknowledging and respecting the environments where we work and live. As a corporation, we have made an assurance to meet certain ESG or Environmental, Social, and Governance goals. As stated on www.ugiesg.com, “UGI is well positioned to become a leader in the future of renewable energy and continues to focus on reducing our emissions, reducing our customers’ emissions, and investing in alternative energy solutions. UGI remains committed to delivering affordable, efficient, and socially responsible energy products and services to our customers in a safe and reliable manner. To meet these commitments, UGI is focused on acting in a sustainable and socially responsible way to minimize our impact on the environment and be a good steward to the planet.”

UGI has committed to a 55% reduction in our carbon footprint (Scope I emissions) by 2025. In addition, UGI is making an investment of more than $1 billion in innovative renewable solutions that will have minimal disruption for customers while significantly lowering their emissions. These efforts will drive UGI forward on its long-term mission to align with the Paris Climate Accord of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. To learn more about our ESG goals, visit www.ugiesg.com.

Today, take a moment to appreciate our earth in a way that best fits your vision of this day. Take a walk in nature, make plans to start a garden, or pick up trash at your local park. Whatever Earth Day means to you, embrace it and make a change.

National Volunteer Week – April 17-23, 2022

This week (April 17 – 23) is also National Volunteer Week. National Volunteer Week honors the individuals who devote themselves to taking action and solving issues in their community. Our UGIES employees participated in several volunteer activities benefitting our community. With warmer days on the horizon, it’s time to get our surroundings cleaned up for everyone to enjoy. Our volunteers were ready to get out there and get to work and that’s exactly what they did! Our employees participated in outdoor activities at the American Legion Post 626 and Opportunity House. They were busy mulching and cleaning up the flowerbeds at these locations.

Earlier this month, we hosted donation drives gathering food for the Veteran’s Coalition of Pennsylvania food bank and children’s books for the United Way of Wyoming Valley. We received an assortment of non-perishable and canned food items to replenish the VCOP food bank and gently used board, picture, and chapter books for the United Way.
