Becoming Green

The world is facing an urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is by transitioning to renewable energy sources. At UGI Energy Services, we offer a range of renewable energy solutions that can help businesses and organizations make the switch to cleaner, more sustainable energy sources.

Our commitment to renewable energy is reflected in the variety of products and services that we offer. Our solutions include solar power, wind power and biomass energy. Each of these renewable energy sources has unique advantages and can be customized to meet the specific needs of our customers.

RNG: Renewable Natural Gas is starting to catch traction as a primary option. RNG is a biogas created by organic matter that includes manure and food waste. These materials are able to meet pipeline requirements by removing their impurities of other gasses such as Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen Sulfide, Oxygen, Nitrogen and other gasses.

Carbon Offsets: When certain projects, such as renewable energy or reforestation projects, are implemented, they can help reduce or avoid greenhouse gas emissions that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere. These projects are known as carbon offset projects. A carbon offset represents the reduction or avoidance of one metric ton of carbon dioxide or other GHG emissions, such as methane or nitrous oxide, that would otherwise have been emitted into the atmosphere. These offsets are measured in metric tons of CO2 equivalent, which is a way of expressing the total impact of all the GHGs emitted in terms of the equivalent amount of CO2. This is a way for companies to take responsibility for their emissions.

GreenerGas: GreenerGas is a product that offers renewable natural gas and carbon offsets to organizations, allowing them to meet their ESG goals while maximizing their purchasing power through product price differentials and market conditions. UGI Energy Services provides fixed pricing per tranche, which enables organizations to budget, forecast, and have cost transparency for compliance purposes.

Renewable Energy Credits: (RECs) are a way to track and document the generation of renewable energy. When renewable energy, such as solar or wind power, is produced, it is measured and registered as RECs. Each REC represents a specific amount of clean energy generated, typically one megawatt-hour (MWh). These certificates can be bought and sold separately from the actual electricity, allowing individuals or organizations to support renewable energy even if they can't directly use it. By purchasing RECs, buyers can claim that they have supported the generation of clean energy and reduce their carbon footprint, even if they receive electricity from conventional sources.

By switching to renewable energy, customers can reduce their reliance on traditional power sources, lower their carbon footprint, and contribute to a more sustainable future. At UGI Energy Services, we are dedicated to helping customers make this transition as easy and cost-effective as possible. Contact us today to learn more about how we can help you make the switch to renewable energy.
