On May 22nd, UGI Energy Services won the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) Business Excellence Award in the “Large Business” category. The Greater Reading Business Excellence Awards, presented by the GRCA and KPMG LLP, honors the area’s most dynamic for-profit businesses and their contributions to the success of the entire community. This was the 11th year for the award ceremony – and it took place at the Santander Arena with over 750 participants in attendance. 45 companies within our community were recognized within this category, and we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have made the list once again.
Some of the criteria that qualified us for the award included being headquartered in Berks County, an annual revenue of at least $1 million and be a member of the GRCA.
A special guest attended the dinner and also served as the keynote speaker of the night – former Philadelphia Eagles running back and fan favorite – Brian Westbrook. “Westbrook spoke about one of his favorite teammates of all time, Terrell Owens (T.O.). He said that when T.O. joined the organization in 2004, he brought a swagger and confidence. T.O. famously played in the Super Bowl that year on a broken leg, a move Westbrook said was a lesson in perseverance — the same type of perseverance is needed to successfully run a business, he said. Brian reminded us that like all great sports teams, great companies set measurable goals, work together through adversity and are able to adapt swiftly to change.”
We look forward to having the chance to continue our efforts for business excellence – both internally and within our local community. We thank the GRCA for hosting a wonderful dinner in recognition of our fellow businesses in which we work alongside.
